A Billing Snippet is a pre-configured Time or Expense entry that includes all the necessary billing details. Attorneys can enter time in seconds using Snippet IDs, ensuring consistency and compliance with client billing rules.
What Is the Billing Snippets Manager?
The Billing Snippets Manager is a tool for firm administrators to create, edit, and organize Snippets. Snippets can be tailored to specific clients, jurisdictions, and practice areas, ensuring every entry meets billing guidelines.
Creating & Managing Snippets
To access the Billing Snippets Manager:

Casefriend provides a library of commonly used Snippets out of the box. You can edit these or create new ones to suit your firm’s needs.

Creating a New Snippet
- Click New Snippet
- Complete all required fields in New Snippet form
Billing Snippet Fields
- ID – A unique code used to enter time quickly
- Type – Time Entry or Expense
- Name – Internal name for the snippet
- Practice Area – Limits availability to specific case types
- Jurisdiction – Limits availability to specific regions
- Client – Assign to one or more clients
- Category – Organize snippets by task type
- Billing Description – The text that appears on the invoice
Editing Existing Snippets
Casefriend includes a library of commonly used Snippets to help your firm start billing immediately. To edit a Snippet:
- Open the Billing Snippets Manager
- Click on the Snippet you want to edit
- Update the fields and save your changes
