Introduction
Creating an invoice which complies with Client Guidelines is easy with Casefriend. Casefriend's invoicing system allows you to create & send invoices to your clients in compliance with their billing guidelines, saving you the stress and time of invoicing everything at the end of the month.
You can Create invoices for multiple clients and cases from the Invoicing page. Or, you can create a single invoice for a single case from the All Billing page of a Case.
Invoicing
There are three ways to invoicing in Casefriend:
- batch invoicing allows you to quickly generate invoices that are mature and meet all Client Billing guidelines. Batch invoicing is most beneficial for large amount of Timekeepers and for firms with billing teams that generate invoices.
- client invoicing display all mature time entries and create invoices based on Clients. Client invoicies is well suited for smaller groups of Timekeepers and billing managers looking for more insight.
- case billing allows you to generate invoices on demand from a case. This is helpful when your firm has a small number of cases or when a client demands an invoice outside of their Client Billing Guidelines.
Batch Invoicing
The Batch Invoicing page displays all mature invoices. A mature invoice means that all time-entries fit the client's Billing Guidelines and the client is ready to receive the invoice.
Note: You set a Client's preferred maturity from the Client's profile
When a case has a 0 or positive number in the Maturity column, it is ready for review and invoicing.
Casefriend displays cases beginning 7 days before maturity. You can use this time to review the time and expenses entered on that Case.
Attorney Approval / Billing Approval (optional)
You firm may choose to require the billing attorney approve time and expenses before invoicing. If your firm chooses this option you will see Awaiting Attorney on the Invoicing page.
Your firm may choose to require someone from the billing department approve each time entry from the Case All Billing page.
Creating an Invoice
Find the Case or Cases you want to invoice. Select the check box for each Case you want to invoice and then click "Create Invoice(s)"
Note: In a recent update "Bill Batch" was renamed "Create Invoices"
When you click Create Invoice(s) Casefriend will create invoices for all the Cases selected and download a .zip file with all invoices.
Note: Depending on your computer and browser settings, the .zip file should be saved in your Downloads folder.
You can Now Deliver the invoice to your Client
Case Invoicing
You can also create an invoice from an individual Case:
From a Case click $All Billing and then Preview Invoice
Select the Invoice type from the list and click View. Below we demonstrate a preview of a PDF invoice
Note: Casefriend can create invoices in PDF, Litigation Advisor or LEDES (including custom LEDES) formats. Contact Casefriend support to include other invoice types
- Review your invoice. Once the invoice is correct, click Create Invoice.
- Casefriend will create invoices for all the Cases selected and download a .zip file with all invoices.
Note: Depending on your computer and browser settings, the .zip file should be saved in your Downloads folder.
