❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn’t my Hearing showing on the attorney’s calendar?
Hearing Events will only appear on the attorney’s Outlook or Gmail calendar if all of the following are true:
- The Case has a Firm Location assigned to it. If your Appearance Event does not appear, check the Case Info page and make sure a Firm Location has been assigned.
- Auto Push is enabled for the attorney
- The Event Type supports appearances (for example, Hearing or Trial)
- A valid date and time were entered
If any of these are missing, the Hearing will not sync to the calendar. If everything is correct, try saving the Event again or have the attorney confirm their calendar connection.
❓Which Hearing Event Types sync to the attorney’s calendar?
Only specific Hearing Event Types are designed to appear on the attorney’s calendar, including:
- Hearing
- Trial
- Mandatory Settlement Conference
- Priority Conference
- Status Conference
- Expedited Hearing
- Lien Conference
- Lien Trial
Your firm may also have additional custom Event Types. If an Event Type does not sync to the calendar, it is considered a No Appearance Hearing Event.
❓Can I create a Hearing Event that does not appear on the calendar?
Yes. To create a Hearing Event that does not appear on the attorney’s calendar, choose a No Appearance Event Type such as:
- General‑Hearing
- Other
These Events will still appear on the Case Timeline but will not sync to personal or firm calendars.
❓What happens if I update the date or time of a Hearing Event?
If the Hearing Event supports calendar syncing and Auto Push is enabled, updating the date or time will automatically update the event on the attorney’s Outlook or Gmail calendar.
❓What happens if I delete a Hearing Event?
Deleting a Hearing Event removes it from the Case Timeline. If the Event had already been pushed to an external calendar, it may also be removed from the attorney’s calendar depending on the calendar provider’s sync behavior.
❓Do Hearing Events appear on both the Firm Calendar and the attorney’s Personal Calendar?
Yes. Calendar‑supported Hearing Events appear on:
- The Firm Calendar in Casefriend
- The attorney’s Personal Calendar in Casefriend
- Outlook or Gmail (if Auto Push is enabled)
❓Who can customize Hearing Event Types?
Only firm administrators can customize Hearing Event Types. This allows firms to align Hearing Types with jurisdiction‑specific rules and internal workflows.
❓Is creating a Task & Alert required?
No. Creating a Task & Alert is optional, but highly recommended. Tasks help ensure hearing preparation—such as confirming attendance or preparing exhibits—is delegated and completed on time.
