Learn how firm administrators can create new users in Casefriend and allow them to sign in using Single Sign‑On (SSO) with Microsoft 365 or Google. The process uses your existing user setup workflow with no additional configuration.
Single Sign‑On (SSO) User Creation
Overview
Casefriend supports Single Sign‑On (SSO) using Microsoft 365 and Google. Authentication is centralized under your firm’s identity provider while user roles and permissions remain managed in Casefriend.
New user onboarding does not change. If the user’s email address matches their Microsoft or Google account, SSO will work automatically.
How It Works
- Users authenticate through Microsoft 365 or Google.
- Casefriend validates access using the matching email address.
- No additional SSO configuration or per-user setup is required.
Steps
-
Create the User’s Email Account
- Create the user’s email account in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
- Confirm the email address is active and able to sign in.
-
Create the Casefriend User
- Navigate to Settings → Users.
- Select New User.
- Enter the user’s information using the same email address.
- Assign user type, firm location, and permissions.
- Save and activate the user.
-
Sign In Using SSO
- The user signs in at app.casefriend.com using SSO.

💡 PRACTICE TIP Ensure the email address entered in Casefriend exactly matches the user’s Microsoft 365 or Google account to avoid authentication errors. |

⚠️ IMPORTANT All users must still be created in Casefriend. SSO replaces authentication only and does not provision users automatically. No SSO-specific configuration is required during user creation. |
Caisey
Caisey operates within Casefriend and adheres to user access controls enforced through SSO. User identity is validated before any access to case data or AI functionality.
