Viewing your e-mail
Each row includes:
- Sender and Subject
- Caisey Summary (if applicable)
- Date and time received
- Case status (linked or unlinked)
🤖 When Caisey Summaries Appear
A Caisey Summary is generated when an e-mail includes:
- Case activity
- Deadlines
- Requests
- Legal developments
If no meaningful activity is detected, you will see:
“No summary needed for this e-mail”
🛡️e-mails from Casefriend or Internally Confidential will not be summarized by Caisey. Learn about the Caisey Confidentiality Layer here.
🔗 Linking e-mails to a Case
Sometimes its obvious which Case an e-mail belongs to. When it's unabiguous, Caisey will recommend a Case Match.
- Review the suggested Case Match
- Click Accept Match
Once accepted the e-mail becomes part of the case record.
You can still click the Link to a Case button to manually select the Case
🤖 Available in Caisey Answers
When Caisey finds a Case Match or an e-mail is linked to a Case, the e-mail and Summary are made available to Caisey Answers.
Click Remove to remove the e-mail from Caisey Answers, or Click Add to Caisey Answers to add an e-mail to a Case.
⚠️ Important: How Caisey Uses e-mail Attachments
Caisey operates within the Case.
What this means:
- Caisey can summarize documents and use them as context for answers only when those documents are stored in a Case in Casefriend.
-
When an e-mail includes an attachment, the document will be:
- automatically summarized, and
- available to Caisey Answers
once the e-mail is linked to a Case.
What this does not include:
- 🚨 Documents that are not stored in Casefriend
- 🚨 Documents in an inbox, local drive, or unlinked e-mail
Bottom line:
If it’s not in the Case, it’s not in Caisey.
📊 Viewing e-mails by Case
Now you can review your Inbox with your e-mails grouped by the Case. So that your can more easily surface important Case information
Switch from:
Inbox → Grouped by Case
This allows you to:
- See all e-mails tied to a case
- Understand activity based on Case context
- Reduce inbox fragmentation
❓FAQs
❓: Why doesn’t Casefriend just auto-file all e-mails?
🟰: Because legal judgment matters. Automatically filing everything increases risk, not efficiency. e-mail Insights surfaces what matters and keeps you in control.
❓ Why didn’t Caisey Summarize or use my e-mail attachments?
🟰 Caisey can only summarize and use documents that are stored in a Case in Casefriend. If the document is not linked to a Case, it is outside of Caisey’s scope.
❓ Do e-mail attachments get summarized automatically?
🟰 Yes. When an e-mail is linked to a Case, any attachments are automatically summarized and become available for Caisey Answers.
❓ Can Caisey access documents in my inbox or computer?
🟰 No. Caisey does not access documents outside of Casefriend. Only documents stored in a Case can be summarized or used in answers.
❓ Do I need to link every e-mail to a Case?
🟰 No. Only link the e-mails that matter. Caisey uses linked e-mails and their attachments to provide better, case-specific answers.
❓ Is Caisey scanning all my e-mails automatically?
🟰 No. E-mails must pass the confidentiality layer and be associated with a Case (automatically or manually) before they are available to Caisey.
❓ Can I remove an e-mail or document from Caisey Answers?
🟰 Yes. You can remove any e-mail from Caisey Answers, and it will no longer be used in responses.
❓: What should I do first when I open e-mail Insights?
🟰: Start in Insights or Unlinked. These views surface the e-mails most likely to require action. Your goal is to quickly confirm what belongs in a case and what does not.
❓: What does “Unlinked” mean?
🟰: The e-mail has not yet been associated with a case. Review it and either accept a suggested Case Match or link it manually.
❓: What does “Insights” mean?
🟰: These e-mails were cleared by the Confidentiality Filter and identified as highly relevant. They are fully available for Caisey analysis and typically require attention.
❓: Why isn’t an e-mail summarized?
🟰: You will see “No summary needed” if the e-mail does not contain meaningful case activity, such as deadlines, requests, or legal developments.
❓: Why are some e-mails not processed by Caisey?
🟰: e-mails marked Internal / Confidential or generated by Casefriend are intentionally excluded from AI processing to protect sensitive communications.
❓: Can I override the Confidentiality Filter?
🟰: Yes. You can manually include an e-mail in Insights if you determine it should be analyzed. This makes the e-mail available to Caisey for Case Match, Action Items and inclusion in Caisey Answers.
❓: Can I override a suggested case match?
🟰: Yes. Case Match suggestions are recommendations, not actions. You must confirm before anything is linked.
❓: What happens when I link an e-mail to a case?
🟰: The e-mail becomes part of the case record and is available in the case timeline and for Caisey Answers (if included).
❓: What is Caisey Answers doing with my e-mails?
🟰: Caisey Answers is using your e-mails and Summaries to power more accurate Answers about your Cases. Only e-mails that pass the Confidentiality Filter or are manually added are used in Caisey Answers. You can remove any e-mail at any time.
❓: Can I remove an e-mail from a case or from Caisey Answers?
🟰: Yes. You can remove it at any time. Inclusion is never permanent.
❓: What if Caisey suggests the wrong case?
🟰: Simply decline the match and manually select the correct case. Caisey recommendations are assistive, not authoritative.
❓: Do I still need to use Outlook or Gmail?
🟰: Yes. e-mail Insights does not replace your inbox. It provides a case-centered way to review and manage the e-mails that matter.
❓: What is the difference between “Inbox” and “Grouped by Case”?
🟰:
• Inbox: Chronological view of all e-mails
• Grouped by Case: Organizes e-mails by case so you can review activity in context
❓: Will every e-mail be added to a case automatically?
🟰: No. Casefriend intentionally avoids “file everything” behavior. You decide what becomes part of the case record.
